PURPOSE OF MEETING: The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) invites you to participate in a virtual and in-person meeting for the South Virginia Street Safety Management Plan (SMP). An SMP is a transportation analysis that focuses on traffic safety for all road users. Consistent with the Nevada Strategic Highway Safety Plan’s goals of significantly reducing the number of fatalities and serious injuries on Nevada’s roadways.
PROJECT BENEFITS: The SMP’s goals are to improve driver safety, improve safety of vulnerable road users, and enhance economic development. Proper access management and
properly designed medians reduce the chances of conflict between vulnerable road users and vehicles. Access management also supports economic activity by preserving the function of the roadway system by ensuring that roadway access and site circulation are properly located and designed.
WHEN AND WHERE: The virtual meeting will be open 24 hours a day from March 28, 2024, through 5pm on April 26, 2024, at SouthVirginiaSafety.com. The in-person meeting will be held on April 11, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at the Tamarack Casino, 13101 S Virginia St, Reno, NV 89511. There will be a formal presentation at 5:30pm.
WHERE YOU COME IN: Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the virtual public meeting at SouthVirginiaSafety.com between March 28, 2024, and April 26, 2024, or at the in-person meeting on April 11, 2024. Comments will also be accepted via email at info@dot.nv.gov or mailed to the address below.
