Americans with Disabilities Act

The Nevada Department of Transportation has a responsibility, under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, to ensure its services, facilities, and public rights-of-way are readily accessible to and useable by individuals with disabilities to the fullest extent possible.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. NDOT will ensure that qualified individuals shall not, solely on the basis of their disability, be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any of its programs, services, or activities as provided by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).

See below for more information on NDOT's compliance with the ADA and how to file a grievance. Persons with or without a disability may file a complaint under the ADA.

Report ADA Discrimination

If you or someone you know believe they are the victim of disability discrimination, please fill out NDOT's ADA complaint form provided below.

Alternative means of filing complaints, such as personal interviews or tape recordings are available for those unable to submit a written complaint form. Please contact us if this applies to you.

State Employees

NDOT/State employees with concerns regarding ADA or discriminatory issues should contact their agency human resources or personnel representative, or can file a complaint online through NEATS. Further information is available on the Nevada State Human Resources Management web page.

NDOT ADA Transition Plan

As of February 2016, the Nevada Department of Transportation’s ADA Transition Plan has been approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

The NDOT ADA Transition Plan establishes guidelines and standard practices for the implementation and maintenance of public accessibilities along NDOT state maintained routes. This plan assimilates the actions necessary for internal and external operations to make Nevada's transportation system more available to all users. Please view, download, or print the Nevada Department of Transportation ADA Transition Plan by clicking the links below.

If you would like to request a copy of the NDOT ADA Transition Plan in a printed format, a different language, larger print, or any other accessible format, please either contact our ADA Coordinator directly at adaprogram@dot.nv.gov.

Transition Plan Public Comments

During the month of October 2015, the Nevada DOT's ADA Coordination Division organized a statewide outreach for public feedback in regards to the NDOT's Draft ADA Transition Plan. Participants included government officials, persons of the public, and many advocacy group members. All submitted comments are compiled along with their respective actions/responses provided by the NDOT, and may be viewed in the "Public Outreach Comments" form below.

The NDOT ADA Transition Plan is considered a “living document”, therefore we are always seeking input to make the Transition Plan more effective and improve accessibility for all. If there is any portion of the Transition Plan you would like to offer input on, please do so using the Recommendation and Comment Form below.

The NDOT ADA Transition Plan was reviewed and approved by the Federal Highway Administration as of February 2016. The FHWA comments along with NDOT’s Transition Plan updates can be viewed in the document below.
