Primary Responsibilities

Advisory Working Group members have the following primary responsibilities: 

  • Participate in the AWG’s deliberations in a constructive, solution-oriented manner to help the AWG arrive at findings, conclusions, and recommendations for sustainable transportation funding approaches that will be presented in a final report to the 82nd Session of the Legislature (report due Q4 of 2022);
  • Provide relevant information and perspectives that represent the member’s industry, constituencies, and/or organization, with the AWG and the consultant team to help advance the data analysis and research components of the study;
  • As broadly as possible, actively and accurately share information about the AWG’s activities and progress with the member’s sector, organization, and/or constituencies;
  • Attend monthly meetings (the 2nd Tuesday of each month) to remain engaged and abreast of the compounding information and decisions that will be deliberated.  Only the appointed member is entitled to participate in decision-making (e.g., voting). See AWG Operating Procedures for more details. 

AWG Membership Requirements and Desirable Qualifications

Required:
Must be able to personally attend all-day (9 am – 3:30 pm) scheduled meetings of the AWG (Must support and adhere to the AWG Operating Procedures). 

Highly Desired:
Ability to represent the interests of multiple organizations within an industry or community constituency. Highest level of authority within an entity, organization, industry or constituency to commit said entity to a position. Proven commitment to living and serving the needs of Nevada, whether in business, government or civil/social society. Prior experience with funding initiatives for public infrastructure or services (taxes, fees, fares, charges, etc.). Experience and reputation as a constructive participant in public discourse and policymaking processes. Credibility when sharing diverse viewpoints and experiences Can fulfill at least one of the membership categories created in AB 413.

 

Meeting Schedule

The first AWG meeting was held on July 13, 2021. Thereafter, meetings generally will be held the second Tuesday of every month through September 2022. 

Meeting locations have not been finalized but are expected to be held in the Reno/Carson City area in Northern Nevada, and Las Vegas in Southern Nevada. Although in-person attendance is expected, a member may make a request to the AWG Chair for permission to participate in a meeting virtually (videoconference or teleconference) on a case-by-case basis.
