As a specialty team within NDOT, the Traffic Operations Technology Services (TOTS) section's mission is to provide, operate, and preserve a transportation and public safety system that enhances safety, quality of life and economic development through innovation, environmental stewardship and a dedicated workforce. 

Our goal is to be a leader and partner in delivering effective transportation solutions for a safe and connected Nevada.

The TOTS team is comprised of two areas, the Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) and the Nevada Shared Radio System (NSRS). ITS is comprised of technicians that design and maintain the road technology systems. The systems aim to provide innovative services relating to different modes of traffic management and enable various users to be better informed, and make safer, more coordinated use of transportation systems.

The NSRS team builds, maintains and supports more than 75 radio towers throughout the state.  These communication sites provide communication capabilities to numerous agencies including emergency services such as the Highway Patrol and local law enforcement and emergency organizations.
