Phase 2 of Connecting Nevada began in earnest in May 2011. Over the course of the next 24 months, stakeholder and public information meetings were held statewide. The following common themes emerged:
These priorities were voiced by stakeholders statewide in the northern, southern and rural parts of the state. This vetting showed that the Connecting Nevada process works for creating a long-range transportation vision for Nevada. The "What We Heard" graphic summarizes the themes is available here What We Heard. This portion of the study was completed in April 2013.
The first phase of the Connecting Nevada was completed in September of 2009 and included the contributions of 22 participating agencies and numerous stakeholders who represented a cross-section of the community; including local, regional, state, and federal government agencies; utilities; trade associations; private businesses; developers, and other interest groups. A series of workshops and stakeholder meetings were held during 2008 and 2009 in Northern and Southern Nevada. The focus of the workshops and meetings were intended to draw on the knowledge and experience of stakeholders and to identify opportunities and challenges associated with a long-range, multi-agency, multi-disciplinary planning process.
Prior to this time the Statewide Transportation Technical Advisory Committee (STTAC) STTAC provided leadership by working with staff to develop the process to begin the Connecting Nevada Study.
