NDOT is seeking information about people, organizations, places and matters of significance to Latino/Latinx history in Nevada

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is developing a historic context and a list of historic property types of Latino history and culture in the state through the early 2000s.

The goals of the context are to identify:

  • Important events, places and individuals associated with Latino history and culture
  • Distinctive architecture, architects and tradesmen, construction methods, and other Latino cultural expressions in the built environment

NDOT will use this information to identify Latino-associated properties as part of NDOT’s project planning and historic preservation review processes. NDOT requests your help to identify places, organizations, and individuals important to Nevada’s Latino history and culture.

NDOT will use the historic context to develop a National Park Service Multiple Property Documentation Form, a technical historic preservation document used to evaluate historic properties and nominate them for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.

We recognize the rich and diverse backgrounds of Nevada’s Latino/Latinx communities and that many individuals may use other terms to than Latino/Latinx to describe themselves or their communities. We also recognize generational preferences between the terms. We welcome comments from all who identify under this broad background.

If you have information, we want to hear from you! Please fill out the form below. Information will only be used for this study and will not be shared for any other purposes.
